Kath Tanner – In Memory of Rhys
72Days to go
This is my 3rd year of volunteering for the Sydney2CAMberra bike ride This year I’m excited to say that Mic & Ethan will also be volunteering on the ride with me. 21 years ago, our lives changed forever & we unfortunately became one of the statistics of people who lost a child to stillbirth. My beautiful son, Rhys Samuel, was stillborn at the 37-week mark of my pregnancy. To say that losing Rhys was devastating, is an understatement. Whilst the pain of Rhys not being with us eases over time, we will never forget our angel & he will forever be in our hearts. I often wonder what he would look like, what his personality would be like & what he would be doing with his life.
The work that organisations like Stillbirth Foundation Australia & Red Nose do is vital. The statistics show that 6 babies are stillborn every day, which is too many. I have always wanted to somehow give back to the organisations that helped us during our difficult time, which is why I got involved with Sydney2CAMberra & I have loved every minute of it. I have made so many great friends through the ride & at the same time raising much needed funds for fantastic organisations.
Last year the ride raised $271,000 & I received the pleasure of being presented with the award for highest volunteer fundraiser, which was names in honor of Rhys. I am determined to go back to back with that award, so I would like to ask you to make a donation on my fundraising page to support families grieving and to fund research aimed at preventing stillbirth & infant deaths. All funds raised help out Stillbirth Foundation Australia & Red Nose.
Thank you for supporting a cause that is very close to my heart.
In memory of my little man, Rhys Samuel Tanner.
