This September, I will be partaking in the Sydney 2 CAMberra charity ride, a 320km ride over two days. The ride aims to raise funds, awareness and support for families affected by stillbirth and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). All funds raised go to The Stillbirth Foundation Australia, Red Nose (formerly SIDS & Kids) and other reputable charities to help save lives through research and education, and support families affected by the death of a baby or child.

One in every 137 women who reach 20 weeks’ gestation in Australia will have a stillborn resulting in six stillbirths every day effecting almost 2,200 families annually. The risk is often double for Indigenous women and women from other disadvantaged groups. There has been little improvement in stillbirth rates for over 20 years and around 20% of stillbirths remain unexplained.

Sadly, my cousin Nik and his wife Nicole’s son, Lukas, was stillborn. I’m doing this event with them, to honour Lukas, and raise funds for worthwhile charities. I appreciate your support.

Thanks in advance.
